Our client’s imposing Victorian stone property was suffering from widespread damp in the basement kitchen.
Pure Basement Systems were called in to assess the cause and extent of the basement damp issues and to prepare a quotation for the remediation of the damp in the basement.
Our CSSW (Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing) specialist surveyor diagnosed extensive rising damp and water ingress coming from the retained earth outside the property. He specified a combination automatic sump pump and cavity drain membrane tanking system to remediate the problems and create a completely dry internal environment.
The basement was fully stripped out; a chimney breast was removed and structural steel work was installed, along with a new insulated floor slab. Pure Basement Systems designed and installed a full bespoke waterproofing system with twin pumps and sealed wall and floor membranes to BS8102:2009. After that, we installed high efficiency insulation to the walls, floors and ceilings, along with under floor heating. This was followed by dry lining to walls and ceilings with a smooth plaster skim finish.
In addition to the basement waterproofing works, Pure also installed a new luxury fitted kitchen to the basement and created an adjoining utility room.
Our client was so pleased with the standard of our work, Pure Basement Systems were also instructed to carry out extensive home renovation work whilst on site including works to the garden, including fitting a new staircase, converting ensuite bathroom to master bedroom to a designer wetroom, and various bespoke joinery items throughout the property.
This is just one of many quality basement conversions Pure Basement Systems have completed in Harrogate.
