Commissioned to create extra living space within the flat comprising of two luxurious bedrooms
The Brief:
Mr Fearnley required the basement of his rental property in Harrogate, North Yorkshire to be waterproofed and converted to create 2 additional bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a communal living room for the occupants of the flats within the property.
He commissioned Pure Basement Systems to specify and install a suitable robust waterproofing system designed to remediate the severe damp currently suffered in the basement area.
Working in partnership with Mr Fearnley and the other contractors involved in the refurbishment project, Pure Basement Systems designed a structural waterproofing package to combat the damp and ensure the basement conversion remained dry and useable as habitable space.
In order to carry out these works Pure Basement Systems first had to dig out the existing floor in the basement to increase the head height to within building regulations requirements. Pure Basement Systems then laid a new concrete floor and installed a high performance sump pump with battery back-up, perimeter drainage channels and sealed wall and floor cavity drainage membrane. Pure Basement Systems completed the project by installing insulation to compliment the waterproofing system then laid a liquid floor screed, leaving an access hatch for the sump pump station, in preparation for the other trades.
The Result:
The completed project facilitated the extra bedrooms and living area specified by our client significantly increasing both the properties rental income potential and value.
