Our clients wanted to convert their wet basement into two large bedrooms, a walk-in-wardrobe, a bathroom incorporating a wet room and a new access staircase. Pure designed the complete conversion and installed a full basement waterproofing scheme to BS 8102:2009 consisting of a Wykamol Cavity Drainage System to address water ingress problems. The basement footprint was lowered by 600mm which involved full methodical underpinning – this was required to provide the client with a suitable headheight. Prevention of water ingress was a major concern given that the basement had flooded over many years and it flooded during construction. Pure installed a Wykamol cavity drainage system with an internal discreet perimeter drainage channel incorporating inspection/maintenance ports and two twin sump pump stations with automatic sump pumps. A pumped drainage system was installed to deal with sewage. The basement was fully insulated and fully finished to a very high standard.

External Works:
The property is a substantial detached listed building in a conservation area. Sympathetic external alterations were completed using only locally sourced reclaimed materials. The external works were undertaken to add the finishing touches to the superb basement conversion – but without having any detrimental impact on the character of the building itself
The completed project was a fantastic, light, airy basement conversion, which added both space and value to the property.
