Commissioned to create dry storage space from a flooded basement
The Brief:
Mr Sands commissioned Pure Basement Systems to provide an expert solution to the permanently flooded basement in his traditional stone cottage in Queensbury, West Yorkshire which regularly experienced internal water levels of upto 1 metre. This water ingress and the high moisture levels were having a detrimental effect on the property and its indoor air quality. Pure Basement Systems were tasked with designing and installing a robust bespoke waterproofing system which would be capable of managing the extreme water ingress at the property and convert this previously unusable area into a dry storage space.
The Result:
Working in partnership with Mr Sands, Pure Basement Systems’ CSSW specialist surveyor specified a structural waterproofing package capable of removing the high levels of flood water and remediating the associated damp. Pure’s technicians installed the high performance waterproofing system, complete with a twin sump pump station, perimeter drainage channels and sealed wall and floor cavity drainage membrane. High quality insulation was then installed and full plastering and joinery completed the works and converted the flooded cellar into a dry basement storage area.
The completed project also improved the internal air quality and added value to the property .
