Basement Conversion in Boroughbridge to transform an unused cellar into a home study and usable office space
The Brief:
Dr Goodall contacted Pure Basement Systems to help with his basement in his Grade II Listed house in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire which regularly flooded. The high levels of moisture in the basement caused dampness which in turn negatively affected other areas of the property.
He commissioned Pure Basement Systems to design and install a waterproofing system which would provide a warm, dry basement suitable for use as a home study, utility room, wc and a family room.
The Result:
Working in partnership with Dr Goodall, Pure Basement Systems specified a structural waterproofing system to combat both the flood water and ingress of damp. We installed a high performance waterproofing system, complete with two twin sump pump stations combined with battery back-up, perimeter drainage channels and sealed wall and floor cavity drainage membrane. High quality insulated dry lining was installed to compliment the waterproofing system. Full plastering, joinery and the installation of the basement cloak room completed the high quality, dry, light and warm basement conversion to our client’s specification.
The completed project provided four additional rooms to Dr Goodall’s property, creating a significant amount of valuable additional living space. The works also improved the internal air quality to the upper floors of the property previously affected by the damp in the cellar. The completed project also added value to the property.
